GCpedia
GCpedia is an essential knowledge sharing tool, designed to facilitate collaboration, co-creation of information and providing access to subject matter experts across all of government.
Through the collaborative work of public servants from across the country, GCpedia is also developing into a major information tool for the federal public service. Public servants who search within GCpedia will often be able to quickly get a whole-of-government perspective on most major government terms, concepts and practices. However, given that anyone can edit and contribute and no approvals are necessary, GCpedia should not be considered an authoritative source.
While there can be a little bit of a learning curve to create or edit content in GCpedia (there's some coding to figure out), it is the same software that powers Wikipedia and it is simpler than writing the HTML code required to make full-fledged, web pages. Wiki means “quick” in Hawaiian and was described by its creator as the “simplest online database that could possibly work.” Once you dive in, the basic formatting quickly becomes second nature. You even have the option to save pages as a PDF book which you can then save to your computer or print out.
