About the Program

The Federal Internship Program for Canadians with Disabilities is a national program supporting the Government of Canada’s Accessibility Strategy. This program will offer 2-year internship opportunities in the federal public service to 125 persons with disabilities between 2019 and 2024. Internships will lead to long-term employment to help achieve the Government of Canada’s commitment to hiring 5,000 persons with disabilities by 2025.

The program is based on 4 elements: Recruitment: Identifying opportunity and carrying out barrier-free assessment processes Integration: Welcoming interns within teams and ensuring accommodation needs are met Development: Implementing developmental plans through ongoing feedback and support Retention: Offering permanent employment within team or elsewhere
