It is with great pleasure that I invite you to discover three new tools on language training which are part of the work undertaken to establish a new Second Official Language Training Framework.
You will discover under the "Tools" tab:
- a language training prioritization guide that provides advice to institutions and managers to help them plan and prioritize access to language training. Among other things, this tool seeks to ensure equitable access by employment equity groups to language training;
- a best practices guide for managers on how to create a workplace conducive to the learning and use of both official languages; and
- a guide for learners that includes free self-directed learning tools at all levels (beginner, intermediate, and advanced).
The Language Training Framework (launch planned for spring 2024) is part of the government's commitments in the context of the official languages reform and aims to promote a culture of bilingualism and the regular use of the second official language in the workplace. It will include:
- guidelines and an implementation handbook on second official language training;
- learning paths to achieve levels A, B and C;
- a focused review on the qualification standards in relation to official languages to reduce diversity and inclusion barriers or bias.
We hope these new tools will help and inspire you to maintain and promote a culture of bilingualism in your institution as required by the Official Languages Act.
