Our Goals
The Government of Canada is launching a Canada-wide recruitment campaign that aims to recruit the very best talent in various fields of biology.
As a scientist in the Government of Canada, you can play a key role in improving the quality of life of Canadians, protecting our citizen’s health, or providing them with cutting-edge research to support and protect our environment and industries.

This recruitment campaign is a part of this Strategy, as we aim to recruit persons with disabilities with a variety of scientific training and match them with a variety of positions in the Biological Sciences across Canada.
Our Candidates
The intent of this campaign is to recruit persons with disabilities with a variety of scientific education and training for positions in the Biological Sciences from coast to coast. According to the Employment Equity Act, Persons with disabilities have a long-term or recurring physical, mental, sensory, psychiatric or learning impairment and:
- consider themselves to be disadvantaged in employment by reason of that impairment
- believe that an employer or potential employer is likely to consider them to be disadvantaged in employment by reason of that impairment
- in some cases, have been accommodated in their current job or workplace
Disabilities, whether visible or non-visible, include:
- co-ordination or dexterity (difficulty using hands or arms, for example, grasping or handling a stapler or using a keyboard)
- mobility (difficulty moving around, for example, from one office to another or up and down stairs)
- blind or visual impairment (unable to see or difficulty seeing)
- deaf or hard of hearing (unable to hear or difficulty in hearing)
- speech impairment (unable to speak or difficulty speaking and being understood)
- other disability (including learning disabilities, developmental disabilities and all other types of disabilities)
Our Recruitment Process
- Application Stage:
- Before you apply, you will need to create an account on GC Jobs if you don’t already have one.
- Once your account is created, you can apply directly on the Campaign’s poster by submitting your resume and answer screening questions regarding your qualifications
- Assessment Stage:
- Successful applicants who meet our screening criteria will be invited to complete a take-home written exam.
- Qualification and Matching Stage:
- If you are successful in the written exam, congratulations! Your name is then added to a pool of qualified candidates to be matched with hiring teams from across the public service.
- As a qualified candidate, you will be matched to hiring teams according to your qualifications, experience, and interest.
- Selected candidates will be invited to meet with hiring team and may be requested to complete additional assessments to assess fit for the intended role.

Our accommodation process: For you to perform at your best
We offer various assessment accommodation measures that aims to remove barriers to a fair assessment and allow candidates to fully demonstrate their competency. The accommodations can be a change made to an assessment procedure, format or content, without altering the qualification being assessed nor the proficiency level required,
Most of the people who request assessment accommodation do it on the basis of a disability. However, accommodation can be requested for any legitimate need relating to one of the 13 prohibited grounds for discrimination set out in the Canadian Human Rights Act.
To be accommodated based on a disability, you will need to provide us with information related to your functional limitations, which can be temporary, visible or invisible. In many cases, you may only need to fill out a simple form. You won’t need to provide us with your exact diagnosis, just information on how your functional limitations may affect the assessment.
