Leading Change: Embedding Nature and Climate into Decision-Making

Managers play a vital role in shaping how teams respond to today’s environmental challenges. ECCC is pleased to announce Halting and Reversing Biodiversity Loss in Canada (CHC112) — a new Canada School of Public Service course designed to help public service leaders understand biodiversity’s importance, its links to climate change, and how to embed nature considerations into federal decision-making.

This course complements the refreshed suite of Climate Literacy courses, together contributing to a climate- and nature-aware public service. We encourage managers to register, champion, and share these opportunities. For details or support, contact the SEEA Secretariat at eeesformation-seeatraining@ec.gc.ca.

If so, researchers from the Inclusive Design for Employment Access (IDEA) Social Innovation Laboratory would like to hear from you!

IDEA is working with AAACT to develop anonymized case studies which highlight the benefits and costs clients have experienced in relation to the accommodation supports provided by AAACT.

If you would like to participate or would like more information about this research, please contact the Research Coordinator Amie Richards at arichards@iwh.on.ca or the Principal Investigator Dr. Emile Tompa at etompa@iwh.on.ca.

Release of Better Accommodation Project (BAP) Toolkits

Launched in September 2024, BAP aims to improve how federal employees with disabilities are accommodated by addressing gaps in this process. With input from 365 managers and 933 employees, BAP developed two toolkits that will help to foster inclusive, barrier-free workplaces.

The toolkits align with the Directive on the Duty to Accommodate and the Duty to Accommodate: A General Process for Managers.

  • Toolkit for users guides managers and employees through every step of the accommodation process
  • Toolkit for organizations helps organizations review and strengthen their accommodation services

HR and Pay for Managers (COR137) and HR-to-Pay for Employees (FON308) use realistic scenarios and practical tools—like videos and interactive exercises—to support Section 34 managers and employees in ensuring timely and accurate pay.

The one-stop shop on GCXchange has additional tools, guidance, and “how-to” support. No membership is needed; simply add it to your favourites.

What can you do: share these resources with your colleagues and contact HRtoPayTraining-FormationRHaPaye@tbs-sct.gc.ca to arrange a demonstration for your department or network.
