TOOLBOX
In this section, you will find tools and information to help you understand the role of the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat (TBS) with respect to official languages monitoring, auditing and evaluation, as well as reporting.
The Accountability and Reporting Framework overseas it all and responds to the need to update the official languages governance structure across the federal government.
Here's a visual representation of the main compliance and accountability tools.
MONITORING
OFFICIAL LANGUAGES REVIEW EXERCISE
The annual review exercise collects information on Parts IV, V, VI and VII of the Official Languages Act (OLA). This information is used in the preparation of annual report on official languages that is tabled to Parliament on the status of official languages programs in federal institutions.
New this year: The methodology of the Official Languages Reviews exercise has been revised to reflect the new responsibilities of TBS stemming from the modernized OLA. The new methodology now includes a two-year cyclical exercise, with the exception of approximately 30 federal institutions that are required to submit a review on an annual basis.
The following list is provided to you to help your institution better position itself in the new biennial cycle for the 2023-24 and 2024-25 period.
