Indigenous Awareness Week 2021

Indigenous Awareness Week (IAW) is taking place from May 25th  to 28th, 2021, Join colleagues and fellow public servants in bringing awareness and understanding to our shared journey of reconciliation with Indigenous peoples. We invite you to take advantage of this wonderful opportunity to deepen your knowledge of the culture and traditions of First Nation, Inuit and Métis peoples.

Kumik and Iskotew activities

We have all come from the one Great Spirit and this precious Earth is our common Mother. Let us walk in harmony.

All Kumik and Iskotew activities are virtual and you can participate to all of them via this single zoom invitation.

·      11:30am - Special guest speaker Senator Brian Francis

·      11:45am - Mi’kmaq Legends – PEI Mi’kmaq Actors – Mi’kmaq Stories

·      1:00pm - Drumming, Singing and storytelling with Raymond Sewell

·      2:00pm - “Got Land?” Comedy show with Trevor Thompson @2pm

·      12:00pm - Noon hour teaching @ Iskotew Lodge with Inuit Elder Naulaw LeDrew

·      12:30pm - Throat signing by Tarniriik and drumming demonstration by Aalpi Kumarluk Sheldon

Friday May 28

·      12:00am - Jingle Dress demo & Powwow Dance workshop with Amanda Fox

·      1:00pm - IAW closing event - prayer by Frank Hope and final Remarks FNIHB SADM Patrick Boucher

·      1:30pm - Special presentation on the Tree of Life with Frank Hope
