Frequently asked Questions

What are the themes / What is the purpose of the event?

You can find this information on the about page, linked here.

Is there a cost to attend the event?

There is no cost to attend the event, nor for any of the sessions. This free, bilingual event will gather participants from government, the private sector, academia, and non-profit organizations, focusing on housing, infrastructure, and communities. Our aim is to spark innovation and policy opportunities through the sharing of innovative research and ideas, and fostering of connections among leading thinkers, advisors, and practitioners.

Is the event bilingual (English and French)?

Simultaneous interpretation between English and French will be available for all plenary sessions, that is, all opening and closing remarks, keynotes, and panels, as well as plenary workshops, which are all taking place, and being broadcasted from the Outaouais room. For workshops taking place in breakout rooms, bilingualism will be facilitated through the use of Real-Time translation, that automatically translates a person’s speech into captions in a language of each participant’s choosing.

How do I access simultaneous interpretation?

In Person:

In-person participants may access this service by obtaining a headset at the back of the Outaouais room.

Virtual:

Virtual participants may access it by selecting the language channel for their preferred language before they join or at any time during the meeting or webinar.

1 Before you join or during the meeting or webinar, click InterpretationInterpretation Icon.jpg.
2 Select your preferred interpretation language or Original audio (floor), if you want to hear the audio without interpretation.
3 Use the sensitivity slider to balance the audio between the interpreter and the original audio.
4 Click Join meeting.

If the original audio is in the same language as your preferred interpretation language and the interpreter stops speaking, after a few seconds, you hear the original audio.

How do I access Real-time translation?

Each participant can select their own preferred caption language for translations. The preferred caption language can be chosen by selecting the “show closed captions” buttonCC Icon.jpg at the bottom left of the screen once in the meeting. Then, simply select Caption language and choose the desired language.

How do I navigate between sessions?

You should continue to refer to the event web page for information and the program and weblinks for virtual sessions.

Virtual participants may access each session through the unique links posted on the agenda page.

Am I required to attend all the sessions on a given day?

No, we recognize that not everyone will be able to attend all sessions of a two-day event. We have shared and continued to update the event program, to enable all attendees to decide which sessions they would like to attend.

I was invited to attend the event in-person, how do I get to the venue?

The event will take place at Place du Portage Phase IV, 140 Promenade du Portage, Gatineau, QC J8X 4B6. There are two entrances, one on Promenade du Portage, and the other on Rue Laurier.
