The COVID-19 pandemic has highlighted the importance of coming together as a community of public servants, including to help each other find work alternatives. The next phase of the procurement process will engage public servants in virtually testing the platforms of the two shortlisted vendors. As such, we are seeking volunteers to help assess the capabilities and usability of the top two prototypes based on predesigned user scenarios. It could take two to three hours to complete one scenario, which will need to be repeated for each of the two prototypes.

Digital user-centred pivot: A new milestone for the School

Following an agile procurement process run in close partnership with Public Services and Procurement Canada (PSPC), the School has selected Brightspace by D2L as its new learning platform.

The selection process included the input of federal public servants : more than 200 people from 35 federal departments and agencies tested shortlisted prototypes from vendors to help select the most bilingual, most accessible, most usable and most feature rich platform. A huge thank you goes out to all those who contributed to testing the prototype solutions.

This new learning platform will:

  • Offer learners a more modern, accessible and mobile-first learning experience
  • Provide easy to use tools to create, edit and publish accessible learning content
  • Resolve pain points related to the login and registration interfaces
  • Allow easier content sharing between departments and with external partners
  • Enable multiple departments to use the School’s new scalable, cloud-based infrastructure to meet their own learning delivery needs

Work has already started to configure the new platform, with pilot releases and additional user research planned between now and March 2021. The full implementation of this new platform is planned for the 2021-22 fiscal year.

Keep an eye out for upcoming developments about the Canada School of Public Service's future learning platform!
