* I choose GCcollab to host my learning group, as it offers the ability to communicate broadly across the Federal Public Service as well as provincial and municipal public services and academia. This was particularly important to me, as some of my participants are for example from the City of Ottawa, and I might resort to help from one of Canada’s academic institutions to help educate public servants in the future. Being able to invite individual participants that do not work for a public service or academia is also an important feature, as I might ask external data tool specialists to assist in some of my learning events in the future. | * I choose GCcollab to host my learning group, as it offers the ability to communicate broadly across the Federal Public Service as well as provincial and municipal public services and academia. * GCcollab offered me just the right amount of exposure, not fully public, but allows me to help improve data literacy across Canada’s wider Public Service. Justin Patrick | justin.patrick@hrsdc-rhdcc.gc.ca | I wanted to find a way to integrate my passion for creative writing into government innovation, so I created a GCconnex group called GOC Innovation through Creative Writing," where public servants can communicate innovative ideas through short stories and poetry. The group has been going for a few years now and has expanded onto GCcollab through the group, "Creative Writers." Over 50 pieces of creative writing have been shared in the group. When I left the government to do my master's I handed it off to Scott Stewart in 2018. On a casual contract at ESDC in 2020, I was pleased to find that the group is still active. | GCconnex group: https://gcconnex.gc.ca/groups/profile/27237577/goc-innovation-through-creative-writing?language=enC

Erika Hipson | erikadawn.hipson@canada.ca | To share information about events planned for Pride Week 2019 | https://gcconnex.gc.ca/groups/about/40837724 | Example | In the group there have been occasional experiments like a recorded reading and custom illustrations to accompany creative writing pieces. |
Brandon Tong | Example | The Knowledge Vine engages a broad audience (576 members) on current and emerging tax issues by using infographics to simplify complex topics. Members are exposed to a diverse array of tax related issues to stimulate thought and discussion within the group. This grass-roots initiative is supported by our partner, the Canada Revenue Agency Young Professionals Network (CRA YPN). | https://gcconnex.gc.ca/groups/about/28780111 | Example | |
Anoshia Qadri | anoshia.qadri@tbs-sct.gc.ca | GCconnex seemed like the tool we needed to find a quick and easy place to notify users for any new updates, policy changes and showcase what HR Council is up to. GCconnex allows us to share information and notify all users of any new material/information in a timely manner, and w we can reach a larger audience with ease. We also use GCconnex to do promotion for HR Council and our events such as smart shops and our annual Michelle. C.Comeau Award. GCconnex is mostly used as our one stop-shop for sharing information. Since we serve various functional communities, it allows us to share documents and interact with various HR professionals from across the Public Service. We can directly engage with our audience. |

George Adaimy | SSC | George is using GCmessage with the Technical Advisor Incident Coordination Team to to communicate with their partners across Canada and use it to overcome virtual work. His team (Incident Coordination) is located across Canada and they create rooms where the daytime employees can join shift workers and on-call employees in order to gather data from previously or ongoing incidents. | Example | Example |
Andy Ellis | SSC | Andy uses GCmessage as a primary communication between their teams and staff members. He has access to 3 other tools besides GCmessage: Cisco Jabber, Slack, and departmental installation of Skype/Office Communicator, and prefers GCmessage because its cross-platform and there’s a community of GC users that use it regularly. | xx | Example |
