=== Living Our Values: A New Resource to Support Ethical Leadership ===
[[File:NMC Peer Coaching Circle ENG.png|left|frameless|220x220px]]
+
Public service values are the foundation of trust and integrity in our work, but how do we support new team members in understanding what that looks like day to day? A new course from the Canada School of Public Service, '''Living Our Values: Navigating the Important Role of Public Servants (FON310)''', offers managers and teams a space to reflect on shared values, explore real-world scenarios, and engage in meaningful dialogue.
'''Achieve clarity and take action — with the support of your peers.'''

Now more than ever, managers need free access to safe, supportive spaces to learn and solve real challenges together. This month, the NMC is promoting peer-based initiative the '''Co-development Groups''' (Québec Region only).
+
Managers who piloted the course found it especially valuable for onboarding and team learning, recommending it as a resource to reinforce ethical leadership. This course deepens understanding of how values guide the work of public servants and can help managers frame these concepts for their teams.

The group bring together managers from across departments, guided by trained facilitators, to support a peer through real-life work challenges. The initiative shares a foundation of confidentiality, respect, and collective learning but differ in their approach:
+

💬 Last month, the NMC hosted a session for members of the NMC Managers’ Advisory Board and regional Steering Committees, featuring '''Christiane Fox, Deputy Clerk of the Privy Council and Associate Secretary to the Cabinet'''. She shared updates on the progress made since the October 2024 Values and Ethics Symposium.

The session provided a leadership-focused perspective on Values and Ethics priorities and sparked a candid, practical discussion about what managers need to support ethical decision-making in today’s public service. As the Deputy Clerk emphasized: ''“Ethics is not just about following rules; it's about understanding the impact of our choices on others and striving to do better.”''

NMC Communication and Outreach Job Opportunity

Are you ready to shake up your career and dive into something truly different?

The National Managers’ Community (NMC) is looking for a dynamic Senior Communications Advisor (via at-level secondment at an AS-05 or equivalent such as IS-04, PM-05) to join our team in the National Capital Region.

This is your chance to explore the cutting edge of communications—leveraging AI, experimenting with a wide range of digital tools and platforms, while helping shape the future of public service engagement. Whether you're crafting engaging messages, supporting high-impact events, or building connections across departments, this role offers variety, creativity, and the opportunity to make a real difference.

We’re looking for someone who’s curious, adaptable, and thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. You’ll be a key player behind the scenes—troubleshooting, thinking strategically, and supporting outreach and engagement with stakeholders across government. You’ll also supervise a team member and contribute to the planning and execution of national events that bring managers together to learn, connect, and lead.

If you’re ready to stretch your skills, explore new technologies, and be part of a forward-thinking team, this secondment opportunity could be your next big move.

If you are interested in finding out more about this position, please contact Annie Bédard at annie.bedard@csps-efpc.gc.ca by August 5th, 2025.

Living Our Values: A New Resource to Support Ethical Leadership

Public service values are the foundation of trust and integrity in our work, but how do we support new team members in understanding what that looks like day to day? A new course from the Canada School of Public Service, Living Our Values: Navigating the Important Role of Public Servants (FON310), offers managers and teams a space to reflect on shared values, explore real-world scenarios, and engage in meaningful dialogue.

Managers who piloted the course found it especially valuable for onboarding and team learning, recommending it as a resource to reinforce ethical leadership. This course deepens understanding of how values guide the work of public servants and can help managers frame these concepts for their teams.

With its official launch on July 7, it’s a great learning opportunity to share with your team. Learn more here.

💬 Last month, the NMC hosted a session for members of the NMC Managers’ Advisory Board and regional Steering Committees, featuring Christiane Fox, Deputy Clerk of the Privy Council and Associate Secretary to the Cabinet. She shared updates on the progress made since the October 2024 Values and Ethics Symposium.

The session provided a leadership-focused perspective on Values and Ethics priorities and sparked a candid, practical discussion about what managers need to support ethical decision-making in today’s public service. As the Deputy Clerk emphasized: “Ethics is not just about following rules; it's about understanding the impact of our choices on others and striving to do better.”
