The overarching goal of the CPHO Reporting Modernizing project is to augment the utility and impact of the CPHO’s health of Canadians reporting mechanisms. The project will employ a step-wise collaborative approach and is expected to directly contribute to larger public health data modernization efforts undertaken by the Agency. The Working Group Collaborative will lead the planning and execution of the project to ensure meeting of project objectives and alignment with existing organizational data frameworks, whenever possible. The project is expected to promote the standardization of indicators and analysis approaches, more predictable workloads for surveillance teams, higher quality of deliverables and harmonious working relationships amongst the implicated project teams.

TERMS OF REFERENCE: CPHO REPORTING MODERNIZATION – WORKING GROUP COLLABORATIVE

Preamble

The overarching goal of the CPHO Reporting Modernizing project is to augment the utility and impact of the CPHO’s health of Canadians reporting mechanisms. The project will employ a step-wise collaborative approach and is expected to directly contribute to larger public health data modernization efforts undertaken by the Agency. The Working Group Collaborative will lead the planning and execution of the project to ensure meeting of project objectives and alignment with existing organizational data frameworks, whenever possible. The project is expected to promote the standardization of indicators and analysis approaches, more predictable workloads for surveillance teams, higher quality of deliverables and harmonious working relationships amongst the implicated project teams.

Working Group Mandate

The group’s mandate includes, but is not limited to, the following tasks and responsibilities:

  • Develop a detailed project plan, including objectives, deliverables and timelines.
  • Manage completion of project deliverables:
  1. Develop and implement streamlined processes and/or methodologies for indicator updates and core analyses.
  2. Ensure timely review and update of indicators, as required.
  3. Ensure timely completion of core analyses (i.e., trend analysis, international benchmarking).
  4. Compile, interpret and report indicator and/or analysis results.
  5. Identify and report on emerging public health trends (i.e., positive and negative)
  6. Identify and report relevant health inequities.
  7. Propose, execute and report on special studies.
  8. Identify, design and implement dashboard enhancements, such as improved data visualizations.
  • Translate and implement confirmed project priorities and change requests.
  • Prepare agenda items for Governance Committee meetings.
  • Identify and respond to internal project risks and opportunities.
  • Critically review Health of Canadians draft.
  • Perform quality assurance of dashboard results.
  • Perform project evaluation.
