The Public Service Commission is launching a Canada-wide selection process that aims to recruit the very best talent in data science.

Estimated Timeline for Data Scientist Post-Secondary Recruitment Process

Note: The timeline is only an estimate and can be subject to change during the assessment process.

November 2022

• Candidates apply online between November 2 and 30, 2022.
• Information sessions are offered during the month of November 2022 (see above for dates and links to registration forms).

December 2022 to January 2023

• Pre-screening phase: answers to screening questions will be evaluated by human resources advisors and subject matter experts. Candidates must meet all essential Education and Experience qualifications.

February to March 2023

• An at-home written exam will be sent to candidates by email who were successful at the pre-screening phase. The following four competencies will be assessed:
  • Ability to communicate effectively in writing;
  • Ability to work effectively with others;
  • Analytical thinking;
  • Ability to uphold privacy standards and code of ethics.

• Candidates who wish to be considered for bilingual positions will be required to undergo second language evaluation. More specifically, candidates will have to do the Unsupervised Test of Written Expression, the Unsupervised Test of Reading Comprehension, and the Oral Language Assessment. April to May 2023

• Candidates who passed the written exam will be invited to matching events with hiring managers. Hiring managers will conduct interviews during these matching events.
