5. Carousels
[Lana Stewart] (DTO)
- We were tasked with trying to make ArriveCAN more visible on the web
- The simple switch from a carousel to a feature made an enormous impact immediately
- In the first weekend after the switch, the click through rate increased by 14X
- Over a longer stretch of time, this trend continued - 13X more people continued to use the feature
- This supports our direction to use features instead of carousels
- ArriveCAN: From carousel to feature on travel.gc.ca
- Blog: Avoid promotional carousels, improve web content
6. Alerts
Lana Stewart (DTO)
- In a blog post coming soon, we are going to talk about news releases going out before content
Updated the guidance pattern based on research.
Minor updates include:
- an example of an alert for a service or policy change with an effective date
- refine the definition and provide more specific guidance about keeping alert text brief
- removing alerts as soon as possible
- limiting the number of alerts on a page.
