Appendix H: Standard on Enterprise IT Service Usage Restrictions
H.1 Standard H.1.1 This standard provides details on the requirements set out in Section 4.4.3.10 of the [Directive on Service and Digital].
H.2.1 Standards for Enterprise Application Hosting Services are as follows: H.2.1.1 No new departmental application deployments in data centres which are targeted for closure within three years.
H.2.1.2 All growth beyond current deployment must be identified in the integrated service, information, IT and cyber security departmental plan.
H.2.1.2.1 Planned growth can be distributed as desired between enterprise data centres and cloud.
H.2.1.3 All departmental applications must have an application health rating in the Application Portfolio Management (APM) system of at least ‘Minimal Attention Required’. H.2.1.4 New departmental applications cannot be deployed to mainframe. H.2.1.5 All departmental applications hosted on Shared Services Canada (SSC) infrastructure must be mapped to that infrastructure.
H.3.1 Standards for Enterprise IT Service Delivery:
H.3.1.1 The delivery of the following enterprise services will respect the entitlements and limitations specified in these documents:
H.3.1.1.1 Application Hosting Considerations and Restrictions [TBD – In development]
H.4.1 Standards for Networking and Cabling Services are as follows: H.4.1.1 Use local internet connections only where no SSC wide area network or enterprise internet services are present. H.4.1.1.1 Ensure that local internet access services are obtained through SSC.
H.4.1.1.2 Departments are responsible for all costs for supplying these services to users.
H.4.1.2 A minimum average of 1 Mbps/user available bandwidth at the location which includes bandwidth required for Internet and O365 (excludes locations providing bandwidth through satellite links).
H.4.1.3 Guest Wi-Fi must be provided wherever GC Wi-Fi is available.
H.5.1 Standards for Telephony Services are as follows:
H.5.1.1 Telephony plans can be purchased for automated devices which require connectivity.
H.5.1.2 Fixed lines are permitted for:
• Requirements specified in Appendix G: Standard on Information Technology Entitlements
• Emergency response / business continuity
• Where cellular coverage is prohibited or not available
H.6.1 Standards for Printing Services are as follows: H.6.1.1 No more than one printer per two hundred and fifty users.
H.7.1 Standards for Workplace Technology Device Services are as follows: H.7.1.1 Select end-user device software from the SSC Base Software List, when the list offers software in that category. H.7.1.2 Do not assign users duplicate software licences. H.7.1.3 Minimum two web browsers, installed on the end-user device.
