Senior GBA Plus and Culture Evolution Strategy Advisor

Start Date: 1 year term available starting approximately in May 2024.

The Materiel Group at National Defence headquarters is looking for an AS-05 Senior GBA Plus and Culture Evolution Strategy Advisor. In our commitment to advance representation in leadership, we are offering this position to outstanding public service leaders to gain experience in a fast-paced, innovative Diversity & Inclusion Office presently managed by Section Head Samantha Moonsammy.

- We are looking for a collaborative and strategic thinker who is passionate about supporting culture and systemic change to ensure equity, diversity, inclusion and belonging in our workplace.
- You are comfortable using an intersectional GBA+ lens on programs and policies and provide recommendations to advance inclusion.
- During your assignment, you will be implementing and managing initiatives and programs from our Action Plan, which includes:
- Coordinate the Materiel Group’s efforts in institutionalizing GBA Plus
- Create a plan to extend GBA Plus down to the smallest teams
- Align L1-approved GBA Plus Implementation Plans (GBA plus IPs), laying out a three-year plan and activities aligned to the 5 Lines of Effort in the GBA Plus Enterprise Approach (Annex A to CES)
- Leading the Culture Evolution Strategy (CES) portfolio for our office and liaise with the Chief Professional Conduct and Culture (CPCC) - the designers and organizers of the CES
- Being the main point of contact and advisor for Gender-Based Analysis Plus (GBA+) and 2SLGBTQIA+ Action Plan initiatives and communications
- Reporting on the Accessibility portfolio in relation to the office’s initiatives
- Working with our L1 Working Group at monthly meetings for knowledge transfer and feedback Reporting on the office’s initiatives and rolling out of new activities.
- Provide updates to corporate reporting and business plans.

- Leading the 4th cohort of public servants through the Lifting as You Lead Mentoring Circles program https://wiki.gccollab.ca/Lifting_as_You_Lead_Mentoring_Circles_Program_2023
- Leading courageous conversations, presentations and training with the senior management, our L1 Diversity and Inclusion Working Group, and stakeholders at all levels across branches and departments.
- Leading and inspiring a motivated team at the Diversity and Inclusion office that includes Micro-Assignment members from across the government committed to consciously advancing diversity, inclusion and belonging in the Federal Public Service.
- Continuing to establish and maintain strategic alliances with various stakeholders, such as government departments, industry and international organizations; providing strategic advice, recommendations and briefing support to senior officials (DG and above) and gathering, interpreting and analyzing information from various sources in order to prepare written documentation (BNs, reporting, presentations, etc) on complex issues for senior officials (DG and above).
- Coordinate the Materiel Group’s efforts in institutionalizing GBA Plus
