The Office of Energy Research and Development (OERD) is the Government of Canada's co-ordinator of energy research and development (R&D) activities. Thirteen federal departments and agencies receive funds from OERD to undertake R&D and technology demonstrations in six priority areas:
- Oil and Gas
- Clean Electric Power Generation
- Clean Transportation Energy
- Clean Energy Systems for Buildings and Communities
- Clean Energy Systems for Industry
- Sustainable Bioenergy
OERD’S Funding Programs
OERD is responsible for the following programs:
- Energy Innovation Program
- Clean Growth Program
- Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Demonstrations
- Green Infrastructure programs
- Oil and Gas Clean Tech Program
- Oil Spill Response Science Program
- Program of Energy Research and Development (PERD)
Environmental Studies Research Fund
OERD is responsible for the Secretariat for the Environmental Studies Research Fund, a research program that sponsors environmental and social studies to assist in the decision-making process related to oil and gas exploration and development in Canada's frontier lands. http://www.esrfunds.org
