Empowering Digital Talent: OCIO's IT Career Pathway

The Digital Talent and Leadership (DTL) team at OCIO introduces a career pathway pilot program aimed at enhancing IT professionals' skills in M365 Platform Administration. Aligned with the Government of Canada's Digital Talent Strategy, this initiative seeks to attract, develop, and retain top-tier IT talent.

The program offers a structured learning path comprising Microsoft and Canada School of Public Service (CSPS) training. It includes self-paced courses, instructor-led sessions, practice tests, and ongoing mentor support.

Completion of the learning path includes taking the official Microsoft 365 Administrator Exam, with OCIO covering exam fees. Success leads to earning the Microsoft 365 Administrator Expert certification, allowing candidates to apply for positions through a TBS centralized digital talent hiring process on the GC Digital Talent Platform.

CSPS learning offerings

The CSPS Digital Accelerator launched with new courses available to all Public Servants

The CSPS Digital Accelerator is in full motion with its third cohort of teams practicing collaborative, open, human-centered, and iterative ways to define problems and develop solutions. This year, the learning is available to all public servants on the CSPS online catalogue through self-paced courses and events.  Learn how design thinking, user research, prototyping, product management, and agile can help you and your teams to address real business problems.

Step up your cyber fitness

Our friends at the Canadian Centre for Cyber Security Learning Hub and the Canada School of Public Service are helping us to stretch our cyber security muscles by launching the newly updated (and shortened) version of Discover Cyber Security (DDN235). This online self-paced course helps to build a greater awareness and understanding of the reality of cyber risks by exploring common security vulnerabilities and cyber threats, such as malware, password attacks and social engineering. Learners will recognize potential threats and how to protect themselves, their digital information, and the systems they use.  Consider making this course required training across your organization now. At least three Deputy Ministers have done so already!

This divide can have a negative impact on economic opportunities, education, health care, and social inclusion. For more information, keep reading
  • Immersive Technologies Explained - Immersive technologies create highly interactive and engaging digital experiences, blurring the boundaries between the real and virtual. They provide users with a sense of presence and immersion and allow them to interact with computer-generated content in a realistic way. Immersive technologies have integrated many fields, including gaming, entertainment, education, training, healthcare, architecture, and design. For more information, keep reading
  • Using Large Language Models (like ChatGPT) in the Federal Public Service - In recent months, there has been significant growth in the field of large language models (LLMs). Large language models use machine learning algorithms to process vast amounts of data and generate human-like textual responses based on that data. One product that has gained widespread attention is OpenAI's ChatGPT. Because of its early entry into the market, it currently has a strong advantage over its competitors.
