Message from the Chief Human Resources Officer and President of the Public Service Commission
To: Universities Canada, Co-operative Education and Work-Integrated Learning Canada
Good morning,
We’re writing today with good news about student hiring and co-op terms.
We’ve seen an increase in student referrals for hiring since we sent a message to leaders in the public service on April 21 to encourage managers to hire students.
We’re working with departments and agencies across Government to make sure messages, tools and guides are available to support hiring and onboarding new employees in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic. These resources will also provide flexibilities in terms of security screening, an issue that some universities have already raised with us.
We would kindly ask that you distribute this message to universities across the country.
If you have any questions or concerns, or you can’t access the tools mentioned above, please email us at wpp-ppt@tbs-sct.gc.ca.
Thank you,
Nancy Chahwan & Patrick Borbey
