Updates

Privy Council Office (PCO)

PCO provided information what to do during on the Caretaker Convention:

  • Ask questions to your Head of Communications
  • Discuss with your own internal senior management on what is deemed operational
  • Inform your PCO strategy officer about any new content coming out

Principal Publisher

During the caretaker period, Principal Publisher has asked for director-level approval for any publishing or content change requests sent to them, including for vanity URLs.

They have also taken down Parliamentary secretary profiles, so departments are reminded that they need to remove any links to them on their websites.

Digital Transformation Office (DTO)

DTO is working on creating a theme page called “Manage life events” that will list all life events. It will:

  • be linked from the footer and the menu
  • host the 3 known life events pages
  • include the Page Feedback Tool, to monitor feedback and make adjustments as needed

DTO will also investigate if there are other existing life events that should be incorporated into this page in the future.

There is A/B testing happening on the All services page. This is to test using expand/collapse boxes to organize the services information. You may see the alternate version while visiting this page. The test will be running until mid-April?.

AI answers update

DTO provided a progress update on the experiments taking place with AI answers on Canada.ca. This included information on:

  • methods used for evaluating the accuracy of answers, both by human experts and AI
  • how to handle content issues that AI answers and other commercial AI are finding, so that users get correct answers

See the presentation for the AI answers update

GC Design System accessibility testing

The GC Design System team presented how they are using Fable, an assistive technology testing platform, to test the accessibility of the GC Design System. This includes testing the documentation website and the components in the design system.

They also created a tracker to oversee which assistive technologies and other tools each component has been tested in, and to find gaps.
