2022 Closing Event for Students 2022

Description

Every year, students continue to prove the worth of their contribution to the renewal of the Government of Canada. Their curiosity, innovative ideas and learned experiences are important assets to all federal departments and agencies.

As the summer student work term draws to a close, now is the time to reflect on the unique experience of working for the Government of Canada and the new skills acquired along the way.

Hosted in collaboration with the Federal Youth Network, the 2022 Closing Event for Students aims to share advice with students on how they can benefit from their summer work experiences to guide their future career decisions.

Participants will learn about staffing processes for public service jobs, post-secondary recruitment activities and how to successfully pursue a career in the public service.

  • Date and time: August 18, 2022 | 1:00 pm to 2:30 pm (ET)
  • Registration deadline: August 18, 2022, 10:00 am (ET)
  • Language: Bilingual, with interpretation in both official languages
  • Location: This event will be delivered virtually. A link to the virtual expo will be provided to registered participants.
    • Please note:
      • Some segments during the day will be on Zoom. Downloading Zoom to your computer is not necessary - you can view it on the web.
      • You can use your personal computer if the work computer does not allow you to view Zoom.

Priyanka Sharma (Elle/She/Her) works as an Advisor for the Diversity Outreach, Recruitment, Retention and Advancement (DORRA) Team at Employment and Social Development Canada (EDSC) and mainly focuses her time on the Deputy Minister University Champion (DMUC) Initiative, student recruitment events and other projects regarding the recruitment, retention and advancement of students and employees. She is the National Student Ambassador at ESDC and acting co-chair of GC Students.


Priyanka joined the Federal Public Service as a student in 2019 and bridged into a full time position in 2020. She began her career at National Defence (DND) where she had the opportunity to develop and support the Student Onboarding Program. In mid 2021 she moved over to ESDC and with her passion for recruitment and advancement of students, she has continued to work with student onboarding. On her spare time, she loves to bake desserts and pastries, watch movies and go on outdoor adventures (in the summer).
