|'''MFEN event in collaboration with TBS: Faith, Spirituality, Religion and Mental Health with guest speaker Dr. Rania Awaad'''
  −
The importance of mental health is presently featured everywhere, from workplaces and schools to books on the subject as well as social media and TV talk shows. In most cases, it has a noticeably secular approach. There is rarely any mention of the role that faith and spirituality can play in mental health. However, religiosity is not only relevant to mental health, but central to it. Our featured guest, a respected American Muslim psychiatrist, will lead a thoughtful discussion on how faith can serve as a powerful resource in achieving positive psychological outcomes. Through personal anecdotes and professional insights, Dr. Rania Awaad will guide our understanding on the significance of constructively incorporating faith, spirituality and religion into our daily lives to achieve a state of well-being. She will also speak to how Muslim scholars understood mental illness a thousand years ago and how the mind, body and soul were treated as well as how Muslims developed the first psychiatric hospitals in the world. This event is a unique opportunity to explore the profound impact of spirituality on mental health and gain a deeper understanding of the role that faith can play in promoting resilience and healing. This event also includes an interactive period for you to ask questions. Kindly note that this presentation will be given in English only. Registration is not required, please use the MS Teams link to join (see below).
